Meet the Chefs
Chuck Subra
Chef Chuck Subra was born in Louisiana, attended culinary school in New Orleans, and spent his early career specializing in local cuisine. After expanding his skills as a sous chef at several local venues, he opened his own Cajun French restaurant. Le Cote Brasserie came to life in 2004. Despite facing Hurricanes Katrina and Rita just a year later, it operated until 2011. Next up for Chef Subra was a shift into managing culinary services in the hospitality environment. Currently, he lives and works in southern Indiana, overseeing the suite of dining options at Bally’s Evansville.
Mihoko Obunai
Chef Mihoko Obunai is best known for a series of splashy ramen and bone broth pop-ups in and around Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, including Mibo Ramen, Ramen Freak, and Nexto. But the Japanese-style cooking inspired by her upbringing in Tokyo is only one portion of Chef Obunai’s varied culinary career. Besides helming restaurant kitchens, she has taught professional culinary arts students and social amateur cooking classes at The Cooking School at Irwin Street Market. While you can’t drop into a restaurant to experience her food, Chef Mihoko offers personal chef services and private cooking classes through her website. In 2021, she also returned to Food Network, appearing on and winning Raid the Fridge.
Zoe Feigenbaum
For Chef Zoe Feigenbaum, culinary arts is a second career, but it runs in the family with both her twin sister and mother being trained chefs. A later start in the industry didn’t stop Chef Zoe from working at acclaimed New York City restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Per Se, and opening her own restaurant on the lower east side. She also has multiple cooking reality television appearances under her belt, beginning with the first and only season of Bravo’s Chef Academy in 2009. In 2012, Zoe appeared with her sister, Emma, on an episode of Food Network’s Paula’s Best Dishes, and in 2013, she filmed a pilot episode of a show called Chef Marks the Spot for Food Network. Chef Zoe also found redemption in the Chopped kitchen in 2013 when she returned for season 17, episode 12. Sadly, Zoe the restaurant closed in 2014, and Zoe the chef’s current whereabouts are unknown.
Andrew Scurlock
Chef Scurlock traveled the country to get dual degrees in restaurant and hospitality management and culinary arts, finally settling in New Orleans to build a career. Over the years he’s worked in several restaurants and culinary retail stores in the area. Currently, he is the executive sous chef at Dickie Brennan’s Palace Cafe.
Hungry for more?
In addition to teaching, Chef Mihoko Obunai has spent time in school cafeterias promoting whole ingredients and scratch cooking for kids’ lunches. In 2019, she participated in and won the first national Real School Food Challenge supporting the cause.
